Position Summary

The Facilities and Maintenance Operator is responsible for the routine upkeep, cleanliness, and basic maintenance of ISONET Masjid’s indoor and outdoor areas. This individual plays a vital role in ensuring that the facility remains safe, clean, and ready to support daily prayers, community events, and special gatherings.

Roles & Responsibilities

Daily & Weekly Maintenance

  • Perform routine cleaning inside the facility (e.g., prayer areas, bathrooms, shoe racks, hallways, offices).

  • Coordinate heavy cleaning needs with contracted cleaning services.

  • Restock restroom supplies and maintain sanitary conditions.

  • Open and close the facility as needed for events and daily operations.

  • Manage trash removal inside and outside the premises, including setting out bins on pickup days.

Facility Repairs & Upkeep

  • Conduct ongoing preventive maintenance and minor repairs (e.g., light bulbs, batteries, door handles, faucet leaks).

  • Assist with or coordinate vendor work for specialized maintenance (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).

  • Operate and monitor HVAC systems; report major issues to the Board.

  • Perform regular facility inspections and submit condition reports with recommendations.

  • Assist with budget preparation for maintenance and supplies.

Groundskeeping & Outdoor Work

  • Maintain outdoor cleanliness (e.g., litter removal, debris clearing, walkway upkeep).

  • Perform seasonal maintenance and post-weather event cleanup.

  • Conduct manual repairs to exterior fixtures (e.g., fences, sheds, playgrounds, turf areas).

  • Administer landscaping (e.g., mowing, trimming, watering, managing sprinkler systems).

Event & Jummah Support

  • Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment for community events.

  • Prepare the facility for Jumu’ah prayers (e.g., clean carpets, set up mats/chairs, adjust air conditioning).

  • Assist with crowd flow and safety during high-attendance events.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all exits are clear and facilities meet local fire and safety regulations.

  • Maintain emergency kits and first aid supplies.

Communication & Coordination

  • Report repair needs or facility concerns to the Masjid Administrator or Board.

  • Maintain logs of maintenance tasks and inventory of supplies.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in maintenance, janitorial, or facility operations preferred.

  • Ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Basic repair and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and trustworthiness.

  • Familiarity with Masjid etiquette and respect for Islamic practices.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience working in a Masjid or community center environment.

Availability for flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays (e.g., Ramadan, Eid).
